Joina Jamz Radio presents…
Zimbabwean hip hop star Dough Major has been on a hot streak dropping new records since July, and "Vancho" featuring Dingo Duke and Omell is a must listen. The song is a high-energy, catchy track that blends elements of Zimdancehall, kwaito, and trap.
Featuring Dough Major's trademark comedic flow he floats on the beat with his bars about hooligans, that’s sandwiched between a menacing Dingo Duke verse that shows hidden fangs whilst Omell pours wild abandon into his catchy hook with his earworm inflections. "Vancho" is a song about the hustling cutthroats and happy trigger-finger boys your mother always warned you about.
The song hopefully will be one of the many that get music videos from The StoryTellers of the Culture album that dropped last week to widespread support from the Zim hip hop community. Dough Major and Dingo Duke always have brilliant music videos that capture the spirit of their tracks perfectly, so I anticipate nothing less from Vancho should it drop. The video would be nice for me if it has that colorful and energetic Dough Major flavor plus stunning visuals that transport you to the hoods of Harare.
"Vancho" is a must-listen for fans who love bad-boy bangers about their local homeboy hoodlums, the track immediately screams,”…LOUDER FOR THOSE IN THE BACKSEAT…” energy. The song is sure to get you moving and is a perfect addition to Dough Major's unique sound.
In addition to the release of "Vancho," Dough Major is promoting his feature with Liberaxe, a bop and nod to the old days “Kare Kare.“

trapping productively
Back when I wrote my undergraduate thesis in 2020, investigating the hunger and zeal for bleeding-edge innovation in my local business industries. I never imagined that by today - 3 years later - I would be redefining traditional notions of entrepreneurship. The concept of the artistic businessman, or the entrepreneur who approaches business as a work of art, is one I have been tinkering with for a while as I observed the exponential growth in creative digital spaces.
The individuals driving that explosive growth called themselves creators for lack of a buzzword, and they’re not merely focused on building a product or growing a company. They are driven by a deeper purpose—to create something truly beautiful, a manifestation of their life's work. This idea of the artistic businessman aligns with the thoughts and sentiments of Greg Isenberg who defined the emergence of the multipreneur.
The Search for Artists of a Company
To navigate the complexities of world changers and discern true potential, we must develop ways to separate the signal from the noisemakers. One keen-eyed approach to achieve this is by identifying what Proby Shandilya refers to as "artists of a company." These are entrepreneurs who go beyond the traditional notions of business and view their ventures as works of art. They infuse their unique perspectives, creativity, and ways of being into the very fabric of their companies. Just as one would appreciate a beautiful piece of art, encountering their creations elicits a profound sense of awe and inspiration.
The Rise of the Creative Multipreneur
In recent years, a new breed of entrepreneurs has emerged, I would like to call them the creative multipreneur. Unlike the traditional solopreneur, serial entrepreneur, or career creatives the multipreneur focuses on creating multiple products per year, with the ultimate goal of building a company that creates companies. This approach diverges from the conventional reliance on venture capital and embraces a model that we call "venture community."
Gary Dahl is the entrepreneur who created Pet Rock, a novelty item that was wildly popular in the 1970s. Dahl was able to sell millions of Pet Rocks without any advertising or marketing. He simply created a product that people wanted and then sold it to them.
Gary Vaynerchuk is a serial entrepreneur who has founded several successful businesses, including VaynerMedia, VaynerX, and Empathy Wines. He is also a popular speaker and author, and he has over 10 million followers on social media.
Kevin Rose is the founder of Digg, Revision3, and Pownce. Rose has also launched several successful products, including his podcast network, the GOOP Podcast Network, and his venture capital firm, True Ventures.
The multipreneur seeks validation and growth from their community, rather than solely relying on the deep pockets of venture capitalists. By leveraging the power of community-based products, they tap into the real juice—the support, validation, and engagement of their loyal followers. An example of this is the company OnlyFans, which allows creators to share exclusive content with their fans for a monthly fee. OnlyFans has over 100 million users and over $2 billion in revenue.
Geographical validation becomes less important as they prioritize the opinions and feedback of their community, recognizing that they are the ones who truly matter. An example is the company Notion, which is a productivity tool that is used by teams all over the world. The productivity tool, Notion, has over 2 million users and over $100 million in funding.
Shifting Paradigms: Venture Community and Web3
The rise of web3, crypto, and fintech has provided an economic reference point and an opportunity for scaling the concept of the creative multipreneur. This new wave of technology has disrupted traditional funding models and introduced decentralized finance and community-driven economies. With web3, multipreneurs can explore alternative funding mechanisms, such as tokenization, crowdfunding, and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs).
In 2022, the global venture capital investment in blockchain technology reached $25 billion, up from $3.7 billion in 2020.
The number of DAOs (decentralized autonomous organizations) has grown from 100 in 2020 to over 10,000 in 2022.
The total value of NFT (non-fungible tokens) traded in 2021 was $40 billion
The venture community model envisions a shift away from the traditional venture capital approach. The venture community model is based on the idea that entrepreneurs can learn from each other and support each other to achieve their goals. This model is more collaborative and supportive than the traditional venture capital approach, which can be competitive and adversarial. Instead, it embraces a community-driven ecosystem that fosters collaboration, support, and growth. By leveraging AI, no-code tools, and global talent, multipreneurs can operate from anywhere in the world, enjoying the freedom to work on their terms, with a diverse team, and at an accelerated pace.
Embracing the Journey and Process
For the creative multipreneur, the true reward lies not solely in the output but in the journey itself. They adopt a craftsperson's mindset, focusing on honing their process to generate increasingly exceptional output over time. Unlike those solely driven by external milestones, the multipreneur finds fulfillment in the work itself, considering it a means to an end. They understand that entrepreneurship is a marathon, not a sprint, and build capable teams to support their ventures, avoiding the pitfalls of trying to juggle multiple businesses alone.
In conclusion, the evolved archetype of the artistic businessman might give rise to creative multipreneurs in African Gen Zs and Millennials. This new breed of entrepreneurs will approach business as an art form, creating multiple products per year and building companies that create companies. By embracing the venture community model and leveraging web3 technologies, they will tap into the power of grassroots and digital community validation. The creative multipreneur will find fulfillment in the journey and will lead small, capable teams to achieve their vision. As we navigate the ever-changing African business landscape, the rise of the creative multipreneur provides a refreshing, inspiring, and all for all opportunistic approach to entrepreneurship in Africa.
To deepen your understanding of web3, crypto, and fintech, I recommend exploring resources such as "The Infinite Machine" by Camila Russo, "Mastering Ethereum" by Andreas M. Antonopoulos and Gavin Wood, and articles from reputable sources like Coindesk, CoinTelegraph, and the Ethereum Foundation's official documentation.
